Dave and Carmen's blissful union began on November 10th, 2000. Conveniently, MTV aired this wonderful treat right near thier 2-year mark. Both heartwarming and envy provoking- one thing you can't mistake is that both of them are very much in love and at the happiest time in their lives. Longtime Carmen fans, as well as Dave fans, know how much they deserve this after witnessing them both go through such dark periods- and simultaneously, strangely enough. It's been wonderful, getting to see candid footage of the two of them together. Carmen is absolutely glowing with pride, every time Dave speaks, and Dave seems to thrive on making her giggle. Below are some clips from the MTV special, as well as other shows.
Carmen lovingly explains why Dave's birthday cake says "Bird", before she delivers it to him. (5.8 MB) "Happy Birtday Bird. There are times when Dave reminds me of a little baby bird who lives in a nest. And the mom leaves to go get a worm and the little baby bird is just waitng for the mom to come back and nurture the bird. Sometimes he's that sweet little bird. So that's his name, Bird."
Carmen hates Daves smoking habit and Dave can't stand the way she leaves Coke cans everywhere. So they make an agreement not to do either of those things in the new house. You can watch thier funny antics in this clip. (6.3 MB)
Carmen and Dave dig through their boxes, showing off things they've saved over the years. Dave suggest some different uses for some "cake cutting stuff". (7.1 MB)

Carmen and Dave had never even seen eachother in person, prior to their first date on November 10th, 2000. Carmen told Jane magazine that the first time she became aware of Dave was when she saw him on a VH-1 special on the Red Hot Chile Peppers, when she said to herself "He's fine!" She did confess on the MTV special that she thought he would be much different than he actually was: "I thought he was gonna be, like, the life of the party. The guy with drinks, going crazy. You know, the guy in some crazy outfit with eyeliner. And he's not that guy." She has said on various shows that she really did have a good feeling about him, before she met him. What might have made an impression is the episode of MTV's Fanatic, which they shared. Both of their fan stories were two of the most touching in the show's history. They both must have seen the episode and they HAD to have made a positive impression on eachother, because they were both just too cute and thoughtful not to. Dave told his impression of Carmen, prior to meeting, and the MTV special as well: "I heard all this stuff and she seemed to be, like this wild person. And I think, in her defense, so did I."
Carmen said on Kilborn that the person who introduced them wasn't really a friend of hers, but was actually a women named Amanda who worked at a clothing store on Melrose she frequently shops at. She said his name came up in conversation and she said "Oh, I think he's really hot!" The woman responded "Well I know him!" Carmen says she panicked and begged her not to say anything. Thankfully, Amanda did say something. According to what Dave said on Howard Stern, Amanda actually tried to set him up with Carmen a year before they actually went out, but Dave said he wasn't really interested in starting something because he just wasn't ready after his break-up with Monet Mazur. Amanda tried again a year later when he was finally ready.
On the week of November 10th, 2000, Carmen's issue of Playboy had just hit the stands and her career seemed to be on fire. Speak Carmenese actually crashed for the first time, due to so much interest in Carmen. What's amazing is that on Friday night, her personal life caught on fire as well. How many good things can possibly happen to one person in a week?
So the date was set, and they were both terribly nervous because they both had such a good feeling about the other person. Carmen was so nervous that she sent in 4 girlfreinds to meet him ahead of her. "I didn't really know Dave, so I, you know, I wanted to have my girls back me up." So poor Dave was sitting there with these women that he apparently had never met. "I thought it was just this intimate date, you know, dinner and stuff- get to know eachother and talk and soforth. It was a little awkward for me. I thought I was kinda under the microscope a little bit." After a slight delay, Carmen showed up,
"I didn't want to be the first one there, so I drove around the block 3 times. And finally I decided to go in." She made a major impression on Dave when she walked in: "The moment she walked into the
restaraunt, I thought, 'I'm a dead man. It's over. I'm
done.' Carmen was, how can I put this? Much more
beautiful than I expected, in a very clasical way. I was
very suprized and moved by her charming
vulnerability. She had on this white fur coat, her hair
was down, and her eyes pierced my heart from 20
yards away. I didn't
think she'd be my type, but she ended up being my archetype. It was an energy
that went off." Carmen's reaction was pretty much the same: "I knew when I walked into the restaurant that he
was my man. We had the same car, a black-on-black
[Mercedes 500SL]. Same leather pants. Same nail design: airbrushed flames.
We'd both lost our mothers. As soon as we sat down, we couldn't stop talking
and staring into each other's eyes." Interestingly enough, Carmen's friends had a different impression of the meeting- they felt like she completely ignored him the whole time. Dave must have felt pretty good though, because when they were at valet after dinner, he suggested they go out for tea to talk and get to know eachother. Carmen's answer was pretty peculiar- she said "I don't like tea", which pretty much convinced him that she hated him. Because, as he stated on the mtv special: "If she said 'let's go get a bucket of vomit', I'd be like 'Ok!'" So he just gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek goodbye. Carmen said the whole way home, her and her freinds were just raving about how wonderful he was. She says she was already in love with him by that point.
The tea incident really threw Dave off, but it didn't discourage him enough to prevent him from calling her up the very next day to make a movie date for Sunday. Carmen's heart was even more tickeled when she saw the way he was dressed: "I remember as we were walking into the movie, looking down at his shoes and he was wearing these little Adidas with his leather pants and a scarf, and I thought he was just the cutest thing ever. Little things like that make me fall in love." The movie Dave chose to take her to was Reqiuem For a Dream, which is about heroin addicts. "Because I wanted to take her to something I knew something about. You know, so I could lean over and tell her, 'That's what it's like, or that's not so true'". It worked, and he was able to slip his arm around her, which she thought was really cute. It must have been an early matinee, because they went for lunch at the Ivy afterwards. You can imagin what kind of intense conversation they must have had at lunch after seeing such a movie. Carmen says one of the things she was so impressed by him was that he immediately opened up and put everything on the table, so he didn't have any secrets. When Dave was on Howard Stern, he mentioned that they did a little bit of accessory shopping after lunch. Dave later mentioned in Jane that he immediately bought her a bunch of sunglasses so she could cover up her eyes, since he didn't want to risk anyone else having the same reaction to them. They had thier first kiss when he dropped her off. It started out in the car and continued as they moved out to her front door. Carmen says that several cars kept circling the block watching them kiss. The kiss made quite and impact on Carmen: "I remember walking away and I felt dizzy. I felt high, you know, high on love. That was it- I was done." Dave also added, "It was one of those kisses where you know the rest of your life is going to be different."
Exactly 9 months after they met, Dave proposed to Carmen. She was on Kilborn a few weeks afterwards to tell the story: "We met on November 10th, so the 10th of every month we go out to dinner
and we make a big event out of it. We have this digital camera that Mirimax
gave me durring a movie. And we took pictures all over- we travel everywhere
together. Usually I'm just the girl and I bring out the camera, 'Baby, come on,
lets look.' And he's like [rolls eyes] 'Ok Babe'- It's kinda boring to him. This
night he brought out the camera and we were looking at the pictures together.
And he was down on one knee the whole time and I wasn't even aware of that,
because he was on the edge of the bed. And the very last picture was him
holding up the ring. And then he proposed to me. We cried- I said 'Yes', and
we spent five hours just staring into eachothers eyes. It was really sweet. He's
a good guy. Well, maybe a little more than just staring.."
Durring the MTV show, Carmen had to seperate from Dave so she could appear at the Playstation Anniversary party: "I wish dave was here so we could do the red carpet together, because we both have a side that we like better. For instance, I think the left side of my face is better than the right side. I am always on his left side, in every picture. Every picture is almost exactly the same." When you look at the pictures on this site- it really does seem to be true!
Carmen and Dave seem to have a lot of pet names for eachother. Carmen revealed her name for him, Bird, which you can see in the clip at the top of the page. Dave called Carmen "Mouse" at least 2 times durring the footage shown on the MTV special. He also refered to her as "Carm" and "C.E." Back when he was on the Howard Stern show, he said he calls her by her real name, Tara. He said that he only calls her "Carmen Electra" when he's being sarcastic. One other name he said he liked to use sometimes is "Wendy", when she's wearing no makeup and sweatpants, but he couldn't really explain why. Interestingly enough, the name he chose to have permanantly tattooed over his heart was "C.E." Carmen talked about the tatoo in the March 2002 issue of Loaded: "He suprized me about a month ago. He knocked on my door, and when I answered it, he lifted up his shirt and revealed that he'd had my initials tattooed over his heart. Very, very sweet."
They recently moved into a new home that they bought together. We got to see a little bit of it on the show, even though they've barely even begun to unpack. So far they only have one piece of furniture in the living room which is a long ottoman thingy that looks very similiar to the one she's lounging on in the most recent FHM pictures. They showed us the living room/jam area (which you can see in the Jam clip at the top of the page) and a second bedroom that Dave crashes in sometimes when he has an early morning, since Carmen likes to sleep in.
