Given that up until January 22nd The Pussycat Dolls had been solely a West Coast Act, New York City was
primed! You see New Yorkers don’t like to be deprived of anything, especially an act like “The Dolls.” The
hype around the event was that of a Mike Tyson fight, the early years. Between radio and newspaper
promotion in and around NYC, the Irving Plaza ticket quickly became the hottest around. I mean come on,
Carmen Electra headlining, not too mention Jaime Pressly and a dozen other of Hollywood’s hottest dancers
dressed in negligee that left little to the imagination.
On what was one of the coldest nights in NYC history, The Pussycat Dolls lit a fire in Irving Plaza that will not soon be forgotten, especially by any red-blooded American male that was fortunate enough to witness it in-person. Not to say that the men were the only ones interested in the event. The show was just as well attended by women. And the women I saw were all as enamored with the curves on stage as the guys. From start to finish the Cat Calls were relentless!
I’ve got to say though, my high school pal Bob and I happened to be more fortunate than most. A
Clearchannel friend, Christina, brought us into the dressing room after the show for a bit of post-event
partying. As you can only imagine, we were two single guys who thought they had died and gone to heaven.
Needless to say, it couldn’t have been any better. Carmen and the dolls were complete sweethearts! The
photos taken by our Clearchannel Executive friend, Christina, will forever leave us in her debt, and the envy
of many friends. Thanks Carmen! Cheers, Chris Passaro
